Arthur Truman Boyer (1874- )
Arthur Truman Boyer (1874-1954) was a trained medical professional and served in several medical institutions. During his tenure in the Philadelphia area, he worked in Douglas, Mercer, and Polyclinic Hospitals. Having completed his formal education at the New Jersey State Normal School (1892), and the University of Pennsylvania medical school (1901), he received his medical training through Professor Hansell and Reber at Polyclinic Hospital, and specialized in the eye, nose, and throat. In addition to medical practice, he also played the organ and directed the choir at First African Presbyterian Church and the St. Paul Baptist Church. Boyer was also a member of several social organizations including the Knights of Pythias, National Medical Association, Naturalists’ Field Club, Philadelphia Academy of Medicine and Allied Sciences, and Sigma Pi Phi Fraternity.
