Coffey, Reverend William H.

Reverend William H. Coffey (1858- )

Rev. William Coffey (1858-1916), born in Newville, PA, was a member of the Methodist Episcopal Church. As his parents were committed followers of the faith, Coffey would begin preaching in the church at the young age of 12. He started his education at Nevin University and then acquired seminary and theological training through private tutorial and study at various institutions. It was not until 1872 that he finally became a member of the Delaware Conference of the Methodist Episcopal Church. Throughout his career, Rev. Coffey served many congregations, districts, and administrative bodies of the Methodist Episcopal Church in New Haven, New York City, Philadelphia, Providence, and Salisbury. An additional form of his successful civic engagement included the trusteeship of Morgan College (now Morgan State University).
